Residence Status for Tuition Purposes

A legal resident for tuition purposes is a person who has demonstrated that he or she has been a North Carolina legal resident for at least the twelve consecutive months immediately preceding the school term for which he or she is requesting classification of residency for tuition purposes.

If you wish to be considered eligible for North Carolina tuition rates, you must complete a downloadable residency status form at the Residency section of the University Registrar's Web site and submit it along with your enrollment form. Evidence of your claim to North Carolina residence should be submitted with your enrollment form. Please be advised that until you are notified to the contrary in writing, your classification is considered to be nonresident for tuition purposes.
