SPAN 101: Elementary Spanish I

Offered Fall semester 2015 (August 18-December 11)

This course introduces the essential elements of Spanish structure and vocabulary and cultural aspects of the Spanish-speaking world. Aural comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing are stressed in that order.

Required Materials

The textbook for this course is Heining-Boynton and Cowell, ¡Anda! Curso elemental, 2/e (hard copy or e-text). We will cover Preliminary Chapter A and Chapters 1 through 6 in SPAN 101. Access to the online interactive language lab, MySpanishLab, is also required.

  • Fall Semester: You will be required to attend online classroom sessions (via webconferencing) once a week on Mondays from 6–7:15 pm.

SPAN 204: Intermediate Spanish II

Offered Fall semester 2015 (August 18-December 11)

Continued development of language skills for communication. Considers finer points of linguistic structure. Expands awareness of Spanish culture through reading, inquiry, and class discussion.

Required Materials

You may choose one of three options for purchasing your required materials. All three of the options include an access code for MySpanishLab and an eText version of ¡Anda! Curso intermedio. This is the same text used for SPAN 203.

Students will also need access to a good Spanish dictionary.
